What is a Medigap plan/
What is a Medicare Advantage plan?
Part A covers hospitalization, skilled nursing facility care, nursing home care (inpatient care in a skilled nursing facility that is not custodial or long‑term care), hospice care, and home health care. Part B covers medically necessary services (services or supplies needed to diagnose or treat a medical condition) and preventive services (services to prevent illness or detect it early).
Medicare Advantage plans are alternatives to Original Medicare (Parts A & B). They are provided by private carriers and often include drug coverage (Part D). Using a Medicare Advantage plan involves networks, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and maximum out‑of‑pocket limits.
Also known as a Medicare Supplement. A Medigap plan pays the 20% that Original Medicare (Parts A & B) does not cover. These plans are offered by private insurance carriers, and the premium is paid in addition to the Part B premium. They come in various letters, with the most common being Plan G or Plan N.
